MAKE IT MONDAY #234: EMBELLISHING WITH FELT

Good morning, Crafters!  I was excited about this week's make it Monday that Ashley hosted over at Papertrey Ink.  She demonstrated how embellishing with felt adds dimension and texture to your projects.  Check out her beautiful cards and technique here.

Her project inspired me to create this snowflake tag for a gift my husband needed wrapped for a Christmas party.  He needs 7 of them but I thought I would just photograph the one;)

I used the PTI dies:  Tag Sale #4, Wet Paint Holiday, and Fancy Flakes to create this tag.  The Fancy Flake is cut from PTI Vintage Cream felt.  I attempted one of Melissa's sweet junk bows to tie the tag onto the package;)

I hope you are all happy with the progress of your Christmas crafting and gift purchasing.  I'm feeling a bit behind and plan on spending today wrapping the few gifts I have already bought.

Peace and Joy to you all!

MAKE IT MONDAY #233: SPLATTERING

Happy December, happy crafters!  I am not sure where November went but I believe it left with my Thanksgiving company:)  I wanted to join in the fun of this week's Make it Monday by Danielle at Papertrey Ink hoping it would help me get back into my routine after the holiday madness.

Fabulous Snowflake Christmas Tags with Splattering

I decided to make Christmas tags similar to Danielle's.  I struggled trying to get a good photo, but you get the idea of what they look like.  I copied her technique but used aqua mist refill ink for the splatters.

Here is a different photo trying to brighten the images:)

MAKE IT MONDAY #230: COVER PLATE WATERCOLORING

Hello Crafty Friends!  I have had the busiest week and am just now getting to Ashley's MIM;)  I enjoyed my morning getting messy but if you'd like to see her not so messy process of how to use your cover plates for watercoloring, you can check out her video here.

I decided to use Cover Plate: Center Stage as the stencil for my watercolor background.  I added more water to the green color as I moved across the card hoping for an ombre effect.  The gradient look turned out rather nice if I do say so myself;)

After letting this dry, I stamped the sentiment from Wet Paint Holiday and trimmed the piece to show the New Leaf Green card base.  For the poinsettias, I smooshed 2 different shades of red on my craft mat then spritzed it with water.  After blending the colors with a small brush, I smashed my water color paper into the ink.  A quick way to watercolor an entire piece of paper:)

The variation in color of the poinsettias wasn't as prominent as I had hoped, but that is the element of surprise with watercoloring, right?!

Cardstock:  PTI New Leaf Green and TH watercolor paper
Stamps:  PTI Year of Flowers: Poinsettias & Wet Paint Holiday
Ink:  PTI Smokey Shadow, PTI Pure Poppy, Versamark, Tim Holtz Fired Brick & Festive Berries
Dies:  PTI YOF: Poinsettias & Cover Plate: Center Stage
Other:  Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors, white embossing powder, Wink of Stella

Thanks so much for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the PTI release:)  It IS the most wonderful time of the month!
