MAKE IT MONDAY #240: WATERCOLOR RESIST

Oh my goodness, I went a little crazy with this week's MIM at Papertrey Ink!  I had never done this technique before and found myself watching videos of all different watercolor resist techniques.  For my cards, I did use the technique Lexi showed us in her Make It Monday video.  I had so much fun experimenting and now I have extra panels to use on future cards.

Here are most of the panels I created.  I had a few more that didn't get photographed;)

These were made by drizzling the rubber cement from the large brush then watercoloring after the glue dried.  I wanted white for my resist areas so I didn't water color the paper first.

After playing with the rubber cement brush, I decided to use an old paint brush.  I "wrote" on my panels with the smaller paint brush to get finer lines so I could attempt more controlled images.

This is the card I made by die cutting the pretty sections from the first three panels.
Oh so fun, Y'all!
I want to get this posted before church this morning, so I will save the other cards I made from the panels for later;)

MAKE IT MONDAY #239: CUSTOMIZING PATTERNED PAPER

Oh, happy day when I get on the PTI website and discover a Make It Monday on a Wednesday!!  I loved Lizzie's tutorial and I agree with most of you that I will not look at patterned paper the same way again!  I made two cards altering the patterned paper differently on each.  My first card mostly follows Lizzie's design by adding dots to the open circles of the Vintage Jadeite and White linen paper. You can see her card in the link above.  I am working on some St. Patrick's Day treats for my sister, so I thought I would add a card to the mix.

(All products Papertrey Ink)

Stamps:  Sketched Shapes and Tag-It's #1
Paper:  Stamper's Select, Vintage Jadeite + White Basics, and New Leaf
Ink:  Vintage Jadeite, New Leaf, and Ripe Avocado
Dies:  Sentiment Splits:  Angle Vertical and Wet Paint Cuts

I wasn't very happy with the card above, so I made a second one following a design I have always loved from Danielle Flanders.  I love her work.  It's so uninhibited and whimsical!  You can see her card here;)  I came up with this by combining two of her designs from Betsy Veldman's Make It Market Kit from June 2014;)  I added the tone on tone stamping to the patterned paper.

(All products Papertrey Ink unless noted)

Stamps:  Beautiful Brushstrokes, Beautiful Brushstrokes Sentiments & Additions, and Blessed by Simon Says Stamp
Paper:  Stamper's Select, Beautiful Brushstrokes Patterned Paper Collection
Ink:  Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse, New Leaf, Lovely Lady, Raspberry Fizz, Pure Poppy, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, and True Black
Dies:  Beautiful Brushstrokes
Other:  Washi tape (unknown)

Gotta run back to my craft room with some coffee... get creative, my friends!  Enjoy the rest of your week, Jeni Jenne

Day 5: Sampler Square Challenge

Oh my goodness, I can barely keep up this week!!! This is probably a very small glimpse of what the designers go through during release week;). At first I thought this challenge was going to be too difficult, but I decided to give it a try anyway.  That's why they call them challenges, right?!  I didn't follow the directions exactly by doing something different to each square (partly because I was rushing to finish things up in order to leave town and partly because that just isn't my "thing") but I was inspired by this color block card from Ashley earlier in the release.  I wanted to try this technique with the squares rather than the strips like she did.

CREATE ALONG WITH US: FEBRUARY 2016

My favorite challenges at Papertrey Ink are their Create Along with Us challenges.  I really am inspired by the work of their designers.  Each one has a style all their own!  I happened to choose  one of Dawn's cards, but I love the work of all of them.  Not feasible to recreate all of them:(

I was inspired by this lovely color combo from Dawn  McVay!  Blue, brown and yellow...who knew?!  The chocolate leaves really sealed the deal for me:)
This my attempt at a recreation.  Looking at it next to hers, I like the brighter blue of her blooms better.  She used water colors to achieve her beautiful blues.  I may have to try one more time;). I stamped mine with a bad of aqua mist then Hawaiian shores then the last detail stamp in tropical teal.

I hope you are all enjoying  this challenge filled week as much as I am!  So fun to create everyday!!!

Day 3: Grab & Craft Challenge

Day 3 challenges us to a grab and go! The first photo below shows what I grabbed.  I actually grabbed a card base from my scrap box that I started for another project but set aside because it just wasn't coming together, so I forced myself to use it.

Oh, I really wish I would have grabbed a black pen to use for the "dots":)

Day 2: Dress Up Inspiration

I had so much fun this week celebrating with Papertrey Ink!  There are so many challenges and chances to win in honor of their 9th anniversary.  The particular challenge was inspired by Betsy Veldman's Dress Up Doll series being released this month.  We were to pick a piece of clothing to use as inspiration.  I love these pants from Banana Republic:). I wish I would look like this in them;)

Ryan-Fit Textured Floral Slim-Straight Pant:

My water coloring blended together too much and became a bit muddy looking.  So fun to practice though!

So much to get posted , so I am making my post short;)

Day 1: DT Favorites

I am so excited about the festivities happening at Papertrey Ink.  They are celebrating 9 years of high quality products and crafting inspiration.  You can check out all of the excitement here!  They are having multiple challenges during this February release to add to the excitement!  I just had to play along for my chance to win one of their great prizes!

Day 1 challenged us to create a card using one of the color recipes from the design teams' favorites.  I LOVED Amy Sheffer's color scheme of aqua mist, mint julep, tropical teal, stormy sea, and smokey shadow.  I don't have the new stormy sea yet so I substituted that with Smoke from Simon Says Stamp and still achieved beautiful results.

Here is the card I created using this color scheme:)  I never would have come up with this combo on my own!  The design layout is from one of their designers during the June 2015 release.

What a fun challenge!  I have ideas stirring in my head for the clothing inspiration challenge too:)  Going to work on that one later today.  Have a great week crafting with Papertrey Ink!
